Enchanted Daily Life ELSA BESKOW 150 ÅR
December 1, 2024 – Mars 9, 2025
This year marks 150 years since the famous Swedish artist and children’s book author, Elsa Beskow (1874–1953) was born. In celebration of this, the Zorn Museum is organizing an exhibition of her works during the winter of 2024–25. Elsa Beskow greatly contributed to the creation of Swedish children’s culture from the end of the 19th century and half a century onwards. Her pictures and fairy tales, together with the songs of the composer Alice Tegner, are still part of many Swedes’ childhoods.
The exhibition will have original works by Elsa Beskow, on loan from other museums as well as private collections, including some of her famous pictures for Alice Tegnér’s songs. This exhibition at the Zorn Museum will be the largest featuring Elsa Beskow in (the festive year of) 2024.
The exhibition is curated by Gitten Skiöld, previously responsible for exhibitions at Millesgården and Prins Eugen’s Waldemarsudde, among others.
In connection with the exhibition, a new book about Elsa Beskow will be published.
