Wood, Color and Love – A French Collection of Dala Horses

This summer, at the Textile Museum (next to Zorn’s old farm or “gammelgård”), parts of an extensive collection of Dala horses donated to the Zorn Museum in 2024 by the Frenchman, Thibault de Montecler will be on display.

Thibault de Montecler (1961-2024) was a passionate collector who, during countless trips to Sweden and Dalarna, and later through the opportunities offered by the internet, came to create one of the finest private collections of Dala horses in existence – 600 horses of different ages and origins, which have now returned to Sweden and Mora. The collection includes, among other, the famous “Sundborn horse”, attributed to Stickå Erik Hansson, a real rarity among Dala horses.
